Poplar, or Tulipwood as it's also known, is a cost effective wood that adapts to a wide range of different use. Light cream to yellowy brown in colour, this wood is relatively durable and highly practical option for most functional tasks.
The main benefit of poplar is that it's incredibly easy and practical to work with whether you're using you hands or power tools due to its low desnity. Sanding with a finer grit is important in order to create a smooth surface. The grain is made up of straight, organised lines with a low sheen and a medium texture.
Perfect for dining room tables, kitchen worktops, desktops, retail counters in bars and cafés as well as many other interior uses.
Important: Some ‘olive’ wood lime green colour may be present so we cannot guarantee that the finished piece will be free from colour variation. This timber is also “soft” for a "hard" wood
Name: Liriodendrun tulipifera
Origin: Eastern North America
Uses: Furniture, doors, cabinet trims, flooring, worktops, desk tops, shelving.
There is quite a wide colour variation with Poplar, from a cream-white to lime green. When sprayed and finished, it leaves a nice, smooth texture.
