Grown in the central region of Europe, European Oak grows slowly, produing a uniform colour and straight grain. Greyish-brown to yellowish-brown in colour, the character of European Oak is heavily influenced by the conditions it grows in.
Medium to coarse in texture, the working properties of European Oak can vary from fairly easy to moderately difficult depending on growth conditions.
Takes glue, nails and screws well, except near to edges, when the timber should be pre-bored. Open to a wide range of finishes (staining, waxing, polishing, smoking, fuming, liming), European Oak can be finished to an exceptionally high standard, drastically enhancing the true beauty of this wood.

All extra wide timber is constructed from three or five staves of timber of the same width and pre-joined by our expert team using one of two joints:

For stability of the finished product; timber 20mm to 24mm thicknesses are limited to a maximum width of 350mm.
Extra Wide Edge Finish
You can choose from either one of our edge finish options:
All our extra wide timber come pre-sanded with 120 grit paper and is unfinished, ready for the finish of your choice. We recommend that the extra wide timber is treated with a finish suitable for your uses and preference as soon as possible. This will protect your timber from marks and water absorption. Please note that if the timber absorbs moisture it may move causing the boards to warp.
